Grand Cayman is one of the most family friendly islands in the Caribbean. Blessed with the iconic 7 mile beach, literally one of the best beaches in the world, and a safe, friendly vibe, Grand Cayman island truly is an easy choice for a family beach getaway.
I’ve found over the years, including my own pre-conceived impressions, that Grand Cayman tends to have a bit of a negative reputation thanks to the cruise ship traffic that keeps the main city of Georgetown busy from 10am to about 4pm daily.
But there is SO much more to the island than cruise ships. This is limited to only a few blocks near to where the cruise ships anchor for the day.
In fact, areas of the island like Rum Point on the East end, are blissfully sleepy and laid back if that’s what you’re looking for.
But, if you want to be in the heart of everything and sleep literally steps from 7 Mile Beach, here are the best Grand Cayman villas on 7 mile beach.
The Caribbean Club has a long and storied history as one of Grand Cayman’s most iconic destinations.
After the original pink thatch bungalows were destroyed in Hurricane Ivan in 2004, a new development was built in it’s place. With 7 stories built in a U shape around a small pool, all with spectacular views of 7 mile beach, it’s safe to say the newly imagined Caribbean Club lives up to the historical reputation.
Each unit includes 3 large bedrooms, fully equipped gourmet kitchen, living area, washer/dryer and a large outdoor living space. The on-site restaurant, an Italian spot called Luca, is certainly one of the best on the island.
We woke to the joyful cries of children running to the beach before breakfast each morning, and dozed to the lapping of waves on the beach while we drifted off to sleep each night. The beach is never crowded, even when the resort is fully occupied.
My team in Cayman as exclusive access to book these units (they are in high demand from return guests and book well in advance), so please reach out if you’d like to learn more about the Caribbean Club, definitely one of the best Grand Cayman Villas on 7 Mile Beach.
For American travelers, the Kimpton brand isn’t necessarily synonymous with luxury. However, the new Kimpton Seafire on 7 mile beach in Grand Cayman has definitely set a new standard of luxury for the brand.
With only about 60 total rooms, here the bungalows and suites are fabulous options for families looking for the space of a villa alongside the amenities of a resort. My clients get some nice perks here, like upgrade upon arrival and a credit to be used on food and drinks on property.
Located at the far northwest end of 7 mile beach, the Kimpton is removed from much of the hustle and bustle yet enjoys the best of this world-class beach.
Here the one-bedroom suites have full kitchens and massive outdoor living space. The beautiful beachfront bungalows also are great options if you crave space but don’t necessarily need a full kitchen (they have kitchenettes only).
Casa Luna, while not directly on 7 mile beach, is a friendly new development on the south end of the island. About a 15 minute drive to the heart of 7 mile beach (or a fun 25 minute bike ride – though the roads are narrow so not for the faint of heart!).
If you’re traveling with another family, or 4 families, this is a great option. Here we have a combination of villas ranging from 2 – 4 bedrooms. The decor is beautiful, modern Caribbean, staff is friendly, and the area is very safe. The gardens are beautiful and immaculately maintained.
The pool and beach area is small, so ideal for families with younger children. You can easily be at the beach with children napping in the villas as they are just steps away.
