As a travel designer, I’m constantly getting the inside scoop on new destinations, travel experiences and accommodations around the world. I’ve been hearing about Hotel UNICO Mexico for the past few months, so of course I jumped at the opportunity to tour this nearly completed resort this week.
The verdict? Hotel UNICO Mexico is definitely at the top of my list for best adults-only all-inclusive resorts in the Riviera Maya right now! Here’s why.
90% of the Rooms are Ocean View
Careful thought and attention went into the resort layout. At many large resorts, there are several rooms types, including the dreaded “garden view.” This is typically a basic room that looks out onto the landscaping or into the jungle. At Hotel UNICO, 90% of the rooms have stunning ocean views, and the rooms that do not have ocean views are all swim up rooms, with a pool coming right up to the private patio on the room. There isn’t a bad seat in this house!
Plus, with just over 400 rooms, Hotel UNICO is a perfect size. Large enough to justify a wide range of restaurants and bars on site, but small enough to feel intimate, personal, uncrowded and easy to get around.
I love the oversized balconies on every suite, including these beautiful bathtubs, also with stunning ocean views.
Amazing Deals on Spa and Excursions
As part of the property’s all inclusive service, they have a wide range of spa services and excursions that are available to guests for 20% of the market cost. You can view a complete list of spa services and excursions included in this offer. This is a serious deal, particularly if you know for you you are going to want to spend some time in the spa or out exporting the Riviera Maya while on your vacation.
Decor and Design are Modern and Authentic
Great thought has been given to the design and decor at Hotel UNICO Mexico. Expect to see lots of dark wood, traditional Mexican copper and tile work, and hand-made textiles, wooden carved furniture and art.
I think the combination of fresh, clean and modern interiors combined with these warm, authentic touches offer a really unique feel throughout the property.
Food and Drink
As with the decor, great thought and attention have been paid to culinary and mixology delights. Choose from a traditional Mexico restaurant (featuring a celebrity head chef!), Italian or Asian restaurants for dinner. Bars throughout the property serve a range of wines as well as some really fun non-alcoholic options. But mixed drinks are really the star of the show here. Upon arrival in your suite, expect to find ingredients for and detailed instructions to mix your own craft cocktail. What a fun way to arrive in Mexico!
Hotel UNICO Mexico officially opens on March 1, 2017 – and I will continue to update this post with more information after launch and once my clients have enjoyed their stays here. Interested in learning more about booking Hotel UNICO Mexico? Contact me today!
