Punta Mita, located about a 40 minute drive north of Puerto Vallarta on Mexico’s Pacific coast, is a private peninsula and gated community that offers a beach experience drastically different to that of the most well-known resort areas nearby. I usually don’t recommend Mexico’s Pacific Coast to families for whom the beach is the most important part of a beach vacation. Here, the water tends to be murky and the sand is course and dark. However, with plenty of inexpensive, direct flights from major cities, especially on the West Coast, this area is appealing for it’s ease of access.
Well, I’m thrilled to share that the Four Seasons in Punta Mita is a GREAT option on Mexico’s west coast, a very different experience from the rest of the area. Here are just a few good reasons to consider planning a Punta Mita family vacation this year.
The Four Seasons Punta Mita Beach
The Four Seasons Punta Mita was the first resort on this peninsula – so of course they swept up the very best location here. With two unique beach areas, the Four Seasons offers white sandy beaches that are perfect for even the youngest swimmers. While most of the beach areas along Mexico’s Pacific Coast are not safe or good for swimming, the Four Seasons is a major exception.
If you’re looking for a new beach destination and quality of beach is important to you (it sure is to me!!) this is a fabulous spot. Be sure to book space on a snorkeling tour through the hotel to get one of only a few daily permits to visit the nearby Marietas Islands. Here you can have a swim in this iconic, hidden beach, and maybe even catch a glimpse of whales or blue footed boobies in the area!
Sayulita is a Short Drive Away
The charming, chic village of Sayulita is only about a 20 minute drive from Punta Mita. Here you can grab lunch and visit several fun art galleries for a fun afternoon excursion.
While out and about, you may come across the Huicholes. This is an indigenous tribe living in the area, known for creating wooden figures of animals, covered in wax and beads. Expect to see some of their work in local galleries, as well as on site at the Four Seasons (children can even attend a workshop on site with these local artisans!)
3rd Night Free at the Four Seasons!
Luxury hotels don’t often go on sale, so this “3rd night free” promotion offered by the Four Seasons is an amazing deal! For ever 2 nights you stay, get a 3rd night complimentary!
Not only is this a great deal, BUT the Four Seasons always rolls out the red carpet for families. From the most creative, fun kids clubs around to really comfortable accommodation options for families (seperate sleeping areas for kids!), the Four Seasons is a great option for a Punta Mita family vacation. Plus, here I can get you some nice perks like free breakfast, room upgrades and more.
