Stepping Away from Chaos at The William Vale

While I’ve spent quite a bit of time in New York City over the years, this week was the first time I have spent time in the city with my kids. And while I’ve traveled with my kids in remote corners of the world, from Nicaragua to Kenya, the idea of taking them to Manhattan caused me an extreme amount of anxiety!

Over the course of a few days, we golfed at Chelsea Pier, walked the High Line, biked around Central Park, went to the Top of the Rock, noshed on a Whole Foods dinner on the grass at Bryant Park and hopped on the Staten Island Ferry for a fabulous (and free!) view of the Statue of Liberty. We had a fabulous time in the city!

However, it was hot. And after a few days of running around the city we were pretty exhausted. We spent our last night at the William Vale hotel in Brooklyn, which proved to be a lovely escape from the busy city and a great opportunity to relax after a busy few days.

A “Resort” in the City

This relatively new property is billed as a “resort” experience, offering everything you need right on site. The pool was a perfect first destination. Located on the 4th floor with great views of the Manhatten skyline, the pool is shallow and a perfect place for kids to splash around. Hop on one of the loungers or purchase a private cabana. There is a bar with plenty of servers, and a nice menu of light food.

There is also an Italian restaurant on site, plus a delicious food truck outside on the lawn, serving up burgers and ice cream. Also, the rooftop bar and restaurant, also open to the public, is a popular destination, particularly on the weekends.

Plenty of Space

While the hotel is family-friendly, there are only 8 rooms with two beds, so best to book early to avoid disappointment.

The beds are comfortable and the rooms quite spacious, particularly after spending a few nights in a cramped hotel in the city. I loved the clean white décor, and the shower was an absolute haven, washing off the dirt and sweat of the day.

And perhaps most important, the views are spectacular from the large balconies. Every room has a balcony with a small table and comfortable plush loungers, ideally situated for skyline views. There is no better place to take in the skyline of New York City.

Perfect Base to Explore Williamsburg

My family loved exploring the area on foot. There are tons of restaurants within walking distance, along with fun shops. We chatted with long time locals sitting on their front steps in the cooler, early evening breeze and visited the local deli for an afternoon snack. And in the evening we were luck to catch an outdoor showing of Caddyshack!

And an added benefit is super easy access to LGA for your flight home! Interested in booking The William Vale? Contact me today! In addition to the best rates available, I can also get your free breakfast and a $100 resort credit to use on property!
