When it’s below freezing, snowing, the entire family has spent the day outside on the ski hill and you can’t even drag your kids out of the pool for a freshly toasted, chocolaty s’more… you know you’ve hit the family travel jackpot.
And this is exactly the scene at the Four Seasons Vail around 5pm on any given day during the ski season. The Vail Colorado Four Seasons Hotel is, by far, the best option in Vail for families. Here are just a few reasons why you should consider this resort for your next family ski getaway.
Perfect location within Vail Village
The Vail Colorado Four Seasons Hotel is within easy walking distance to the restaurants, shopping and main ski lifts in both Vail Village and Lionshead. There is a house car that can give you a ride around the Vail area as well if you’d prefer not to walk.
This is important because Vail has a charming and very walkable village area, packed with little shops and great restaurants. And especially when traveling with older children, you can split up on the ski hill and make a plan to meet back at the Four Seasons and feel confident everyone will be able to make it back without problems.
Large Rooms (especially the Executive Suites!)
The one-bedroom Executive Suites offer the perfect accommodation option for families and perhaps the best value for money in all of Vail. These rooms include a large one bedroom room with king bed, massive walk in closet and bathroom (yes those are tv’s built into the mirror!). Then, separated by double doors, is a large living area with pull out sofa, fireplace, wet bar and a smaller second bathroom.
You’ll also find all rooms sprinkled with amenities to help you feel comfortable even during the coldest months and given the high altitude including bedside hand cream placed bedside, a humidifier to add moisture to the dry air, and plenty of bottled water.
And how cute are these little tents? Perfect for a space for the kids to relax after a long day in the fresh mountain air.
Skiing Vail with Kids
One key perk of staying at the Four Seasons Resort in Vail with your family is access to their Ski Concierge. Located right at the base of Gondola One, you can store all your ski gear here overnight. Even as a local, I find it unpleasant walking very far in ski boots and appreciate the opportunity to change as soon as I get off the hill. You won’t have to schlep gear and crabby kids more than about 10 feet before the amazing staff at the Ski concierge comes to the rescue.
