Where to Stay in Paris with Kids

I’m always amazed how destinations are “trendy.” Sometimes it’s Costa Rica, other times it’s the South Pacific. From all around the country, my clients call asking about the same destinations.

This week, it’s been all about Paris.

Yes even classic Paris can be trendy! This City of Lights, or La Ville-Lumière, was birthplace of the Age of Enlightenment centuries ago and has been known as a center of education and ideas across Europe ever since. The city inspired poets and philosophers, engineers and scientists galore… and today families are exploring Paris like never before.

If you have been  thinking about taking the family to France, then you understand that trying to figure out where to stay in Paris with kids can be overwhelming. Hotels in Paris are not inexpensive. Furthermore, Paris is divided into 20 separate zones/neighborhoods called arrondissements, each with its own unique personality.  The city is also split in half by the Seine River. North of the river is called Rive Droite (which means Right Bank), and south of the river is called Rive Gauche (which means Left Bank).

Here are a few of my favorite places to stay in Paris with kids.

La Reserve – Urban Oasis in the Heart of Paris

La Reserve is, hands down, my favorite hotel in Paris right now. I know that’s a bold statement, but between their perfect location, warm, classic European decor, and superlative service, La Reserve is everything a luxury hotel should be!

Nestled in a peaceful location between Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré and Avenue Montaigne, a stone’s throw from the Champs-Elysées, where the heart of Paris beats, here you have views of the Grand Palais, Eiffel Tower, Pantheon and the Concorde obelisk.

In addition to connecting rooms and suites at La Reserve Hotel, there are also ten inviting apartments at La Réserve Paris, the perfect option for families. Here you will enjoy the services of a dedicated personal housekeeper and concierge team and plenty of room for everyone to spread out.

Here my clients enjoy some nice perks like complimentary upgrades, breakfast daily, airport transfers and a $100 spa credit!

Esprit de France – Boutique Hotels, Great Value for Money

For a more economical option in Paris, I love the Esprit de France collection. They have 10 boutique hotels around the city. I’m particularly excited about their new property, Maison Armance, opening any day now after a massive renovation. This boutique hotel maintains the feel of a Parisian apartment, with rooms that are relatively large by Paris standards, connecting room options for families, and a rooftop breakfast area with spectacular views of the city’s famed sights.

Hotel Aiglon, located on the Left Bank near the Montparnasse district and all the famous brasseries, also offers great value for money for families. This hotel has a very affordable 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom suite (apartment) that sleeps up to 5. It also has a 1 BR family suite that sleeps 4 and superior rooms that sleep 3.

Private Apartments – More Room and a Locals Parisian Experience

Finally, I work with a company in Europe that manages a lovely, curated collection of privately owned apartments across Europe. Their portfolio in Paris is fantastic, with 2-3 bedroom apartments in the most desirable locations. For a longer stay, or if your family enjoys a bit more space, these apartments are a great option!

You are met upon arrival by a local concierge who orients you to the home, and also is available to you throughout your stay in case of emergency, or if you just want to make a dinner reservation or book an excursion during your time in Paris. Here, my clients also receive a complimentary “fridge fill” including breakfast essentials, cheese, wine, chocolate and some fruit.
